| What is YES Award and what are its goals? |
Ans. Young Engineer’s and Scientist Award (YES Award) is an independent programme supported by Honda Foundation Japan. It has been started to strengthen Japanese ties with India through provision of financial aid to young Indian researchers and engineers to encourage specialized study in ecotechnology as well as provide an opportunity to acquire higher professional education in Japan. |

| How & when a person can apply for YES award? |
Ans. Candidate should be a student of Indian Institute of Technology, registered in a four year B. Tech or five year dual degree (M.Tech.) Programme.
For the year 2009-2010, this program is being offered to students of IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur,
IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur.
Candidate must be a student of 5th semester with aggregate CGPA of 7.00. Applications will be open from 14 August to 30 September 2009 |

| Do I have to pay any Application fees? |
Ans. No, the application is free. |

| Can I download the application form or fill it online? |
Ans. You may apply online, by registering yourself on this website. However, the form cannot be downloaded. |

| Can people from all disciplines apply for this scholarship or it is only for those in particular fields? |
Ans. Only IIT Bombay, Delhi, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee Guwahati and Kanpur student can apply for this scholarship.

| Ans. No. This program is open only to students enrolled in the 5th semester of B.Tech or 5yr dual-degree (M.Tech.) programs in affiliated IITs. |

| How the YES Award is different from other Scholarships? |
Ans. YES Award is a two-tier programme. The first stage is of cash award of US $ 3000, and in the second stage of the programme the awardee will get some financial assistance for undertaking a short term internship in a Japanese company or pursuing a Masters or Doctoral programme in a recognized Japanese University. |

| Is this award being offered in other countries also? |
| Ans. Honda Foundation has started the Honda YES Award in Vietnam in 2006 and in India in 2007. In the year 2008 Cambodia was the third Asian country to join this program. |

| What are the selection criteria for YES Award? |
Ans. The shortlisting process is based on academic excellence, co-curricular activities and an essay; further, short listed candidates will go through a personal interview for the final selection. |

| Can I apply again if I don't get selected for the fellowship in the first try? |
Ans. No, only one chance will be given to each applicant. |
